The logo spells 女妖 (nǚyāo) in Chinese seal script, loosely meaning ‘female demon’ or ‘monstress.’ It is where my artist name and my heritage meet: the monstrous as something fluid, beautiful and difficult to categorise, expressed through one of the oldest visual forms of Chinese writing!

I work primarily as a digital illustrator, though I still enjoy making traditional pieces from time to time. When I work traditionally, I usually gravitate towards Chinese ink wash and mixed media, especially gouache, watercolor, acrylic and gel pens.
